I've got a 2011 Anthem that is showing signs of cracking around the seat tube/top tube joint. The warning sticker on the frame states that you should have no less than 7cm of post in the frame, i have got 12 cm inserted into mine. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and how have Giant dealt with it, with regards to warranty cover?

Giant are generally very good with warranty claims. Take it to your local stockist, and they'll sort you out. There'll generally be a bit of marking on the seatpost where you usually clamp it, so it'll be obvious that there's been enough in there, (assuming you're not telling porkies). If you're friendly with the shop they'll often just disregard that anyway, and get the frame warrantied.

Return to point of purchase.
Show them proof of purchase.
Wait about a week.
Ride away on shiny new bike frame.
Pretty much neck and neck between giant and trek for the best (fair) warranty resolution (in my 10 years of dealing with them).

Cue stories of disgruntled owners

Mate of mine has a 2009 one which cracked about 3 weeks ago in same place. He's not a hard rider at all and always looks after his kit. Frame is back at LBS at mo. Not heard what has been decided yet.

Giant are probably THE best in the business for warranty and frame replacement, so should be good

Is it the 26 or 29 version you have?

It's the 26 version. Rode it two weeks ago at Cannock, heard a crack while on one of the climbs, but thought it came from the front end, had a check but couldn't see anything. Dropped it in at my LBS to have my forks and shock serviced and a couple of other bits, i got it home today and was changing my saddle when i noticed the crack. Spoke to my LBS, and he said that he never noticed it, which i totally believe because he's the most genuine guy i know. So i now have to get it back to where it was bought from, to see what they will do.
