Bought a frame that has just the cups of the old headset left in, but they have no identification on them. I know there are now loads of different sizes etc, but what are the chances of being able to use the cups as they are and fill them with the guts of a new headset? Pretty slim is my guess, but thought I would ask the STW mind before I have to get a new headset fitted (which was quoted to me as £55 for a Cane Creek as the only one they had in)
Thanks
There's a chance they'd take the same size bearing as another headset, but which one? You only have to look here to see how many different ones there are.
Post pics on here, maybe someone could identify the headset for you? (or even help fit a new one if you're local)
Cheers DezB, much as I thought, just wishful thinking really. Can't post pics till next week, but all they say on them is made in Taiwan and they are silver so doubt it will help much anyway
tbh, for most headsets it's cheaper to buy a complete headset from crc than just buy the bearings.
you could get a reasonable headset and the right tool to fit it for £55 and do the job yourself.
