These are great 9 speed chains - great shifting, long lasting, and very anti-rust so stay looking shiny for ages. And only 10.99 from On One - so buy a couple for free postage.

did anyone else find these chains uselessly short? 3 links too short on a fairly standard 1x9 setup on a 29er

Not tried fitting mine yet, but I'll be dissapointed if they are short... nothing on the sales description to suggest they will be.

Will count links later...

9spd chains work on 8spd bikes

9spd is narrower so not really!

long lasting

The one I bought lasted a massive 153km before it snapped. All riding on easy gravel paths, about as technical as an undulating canal towpath.

3 friends (of friends) bought them too. Of the 4, only one hasn't snapped in record quick time.

KMC has been crossed off my list for good. SRAM is about 50% more expensive, and each lasted ca.1400km of much more technical riding (Slovenia, Alps,...) before I changed it (and that was cos I felt like it, not cos it was worn).

ReggieGasket is right, they work just fine on 8speed. I have done about a billion miles on that particular configuration.

pah, can do better than that on a PC971!

Not that I'm tempted - I really like KMC X9-93

Thanks for that. Useful as we get to the time of year where chains wear a bit more.

I thought these were a better buy.

PC991 reduced from £39.99 to £14.99 114 links
