Already got 2 two trips to the Alps sorted this summer but thinking about a third with my eldest when he finishes his GCSEs.
Everything thats "organised" seems to be for a week at a time but thinking about heading out and trying to squeeze in 3 full days of riding (so maybe head out Thursday, ride Fri/Sat/Sun and head home late Sunday etc).ย
Does anyone have any useful info on:
- somewhere close to an airport so transfers are easier/don't eat into riding time!
- somewhere that might do transfers and arrange accommodation but only for a few nights?
Idle musing on a Friday afternoon otherwise its going to be a Welsh/Scottish roadtrip.
Cheers,
Dave
Furryboots you flying from?
The best option I found from Manchester was ZRH. Evening flight after work. X full days riding for x-2 days holiday then overnight at Zurich airport and back to Man in time for work the next day.
Engelberg....?
I was thinking ZRH and ride Lenzerheide. Accommodation in town can be found at the youth hostel and there is a train / bus connection from Zurich to Lenzerheide.
Eat at the CO-OP restaurant and lift assist at Bike Kingdomย
Bit left of field. Plane to Nice, train to Finale.
Loads of accommodation and book on some of the tours. Plenty to chose fromย
Plane to Nice, train to Finale.
Or Genova if flights are cheaper..... Both about the same travel time.
I did last year.
Early flight to Zurich Thursday.
Train to Chur, 1.5 hours. Nice hostel in Chur. Do Chur trails in afternoon.
Do bike Kingdom/Lenzerheide direct from Chur cable car. the next days. Easy train to Davos if you feel like somewhere else.
I did 4 days riding with 3 nights away. I brought my own bike . If wanting to rent you might be better based in Lenzerheide.
