[Closed] Alfine hub only works in 5th gear...any idea why?

All searches on alfine problems come up with things around slipping but I just can't turn the wheel unless it's in 5th...any idea?

Isn't 5th the direct drive gear? Sounds like it's broken though. Well, the rest of it.

Sounds like it's borked. Poss something spoiling the meshing of the planetary gears, likely a gear tooth?

Open it up and have a look.

Your bike is telling you that you should be riding single speed. Fifth is direct drive, hence secondary planetary engagement is borked.

Needs a service.
