this seems to me to be a beautiful bike
I've not ridden one (if anyone has, please let me know your thoughts). So what else is worth serious consideration? SantaCruz Tallboy? (but I don't want another full susser). Specialized Stumpjumper HT Comp 29er?
It'll partner a full sus, so will be for fast cruising, trails, etc. Not racing.
Cube Reaction getting some good comments on another thread too. Going to look at the Cannondale now..... not sure buying on aesthetics alone is the right way, but it's interesting..... 🙂
It's the near-straight run from bars to rear axle that I like - the Cannondale has it, but has a weird front end and that Lefty fork that just would make me feel weird if I were on the bike and looked down.

aye its a things of beauty and it moves just as well. had mine since just before xmas and bashed in a whole load of miles on it.
no major problems with it at all.
minor gripe is that it scratches like there is no tomorrow, lots of little marks all over it that show up more than i would like, but i wouldnt change it for the world. test rode a superfly? hard tail trek jobby, which seemed a lot more harsh.

The air 9 is a beautiful bike, however the only place for it should be on a wall. I owned one for about 5 months, sold it due to causing me back problems. It was the most uncomfortable hardtail ive ever ridden. Ive now got a scott scale 29er and love it. Such a different ride, its comfortable to ride all day and so much for fun to ride.
The highball is meant to be a nice bike, or have a look at the scott.
other than the forks. chuck some niner carbons in there and you've got a winner.
Tallboy? A Highball surely...
Dont write off the MCR or SIR9. My SIR9 is just brilliant. In fully rigid SS mode at the moment, but with a bouncy fork & gears its one seriously capable bike, & it has a ride quality that I honestly never thought possible from a hardtail. I'd heard reports that the paint was fragile, but having nice round tubing meant I could literally cover the whole thing in heli-tape. Not sure what the Air9 frame weighs but my medium SIR9 is a tad over 4.5lb.
My A9C is an absolute dream to ride, don't know about any of the others as I haven't ridden them.
As far as being harsh on the back, I'm 44 and normally get a bit of lower back discomfort when riding, the A9C is no different to any of my other bikes 😉
They are a harsh ride just try Scott or the Cannondale and you will notice a big difference...
Save a £grand & get a Planet X Dirty Harry - geo looks the same as the Air 9C.

Interesting, I'm researching A9C at the moment and this is the first negative comment on the ride I've read.
