just how wrong can AI be!
Not ridden for many months for various reasons and the weight was creeping up a bit so hit the trail centre early this morning before it got too hot and did an easy 90min/ 18km blue loop with about 400m climbing. Made it round ok but was obviously blowing a bit on the climbs but just took it easy. Anyway, I recently got a fitness watch so when I got home I was looking at the heart rate info and worked out the effort/heart rate (about 80%+ for the 90mins apparently, fair enough as I am not as fit and carrying a bit of timber) and stuck it into AI to see what it said, and it told me….

-a vigorous intensity workout in heart rate zone 4 blah blah THAT REQUIRES HIGH PHYSICAL CONDITIONING TO SUSTAIN….REQUIRES IMMENSE CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS……FOR  HIGHLY CONDITIONED/COMPETITIVE ATHLETES. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

No, I am an overweight, aging man who was blowing out his arse!

Strava's Athlete Intelligence summary can be unintentionally hilarious as well. Mine told me today that I did my fastest ride to date showing real progression. But I guess if it told the truth and said "seriously, 16mph average, you're actually a bit shit aren't you?!" people might be put off somewhat... 🤣

When I go for a short slow run/ walk or even just a walk with my wee one in a pram to put them to sleep Strava likes to tell me "you are crushing it!!!!!!".

The truth is closer to " you are pootling along not very fast!!!! Eat less caaaaake!"

To be honest I prefer Strava to Garmin... At least Strava is positive

- many are tweeked to blow smoke up your arse so you’ll keep coming back

Want the truth? Ask your friends… they won’t hold back!
