I'm just getting into bike events, Kielder was my first race. Now got the winter stretching ahead and I need something to daydream about while I'm knocking out the commuting miles and the odd long day out. Definately going to enter Kielder again but what would be a good event for earlier in the year? Not sure I fancy short XC racing (bit intense maybe?), or lots of laps for 12 hours (though might try that).

Any ideas?

The No Fuss events are spot on - 10 under the Ben, 10@Kirroughtree etc.

Chain Reaction marathon series, also pretty good

Whinlatter Mountain Bike Challenge in March - 1/3 of the Kielder distance, but steeper

How aboutNoFussEvents - Relentless24?
Or the Strathpuffer24?
If you enjoyed the Kielder conditions this year, you'll love the 'Puffer.

Aim for a 24 solo if you want to step it up a bit after Kielder. Make sure you chose the event wisely though, some of the courses are mind numbingly boring.
