Does anyone have a recommendation? Usually go to the curry house in Maesteg. What's the old railway station place like for food/ambiance......? Have never fancied it but may be mistaken in this. Thank you... 🙂

It's alright, better standard of food than the curry in Measteg I thought - though it still won't win any Michelin stars any time soon.

if you get to port talbot and turn left there is another indian - pretty good.

also italian/ mexican type beach bar near the beach (if you can call it that) but it shuts 9ish

both ok - nothing amazing. the italian does proper ice cream tho.

Colliers is pretty decent. I had a very rare ribeye there once that was pretty good.

"Has no one yet recommended a pizza and plenty of Brains at the Drop Off of an evening?"

No, because they are either too busy watching their bikes so they don't get nicked or they don't want to get ripped of by the staff when they get to the till.

I've always used the Refreshment rooms, as we usually stay at the bryn teg. The locals have alway been ok, even stayed in there till 2 in the morning, one thing they don't do food Sunday night.Do not use the takeaway
chinese just up the road, it will block you up for days.

peteimpreza, I have never, in all my many visits to GC had anything of the sort occur.

Top spot.

The refreshment rooms was pretty good (that old train station).

T-Bones at the Green Lantern is more expensive but the steaks are better.

We ordered a curry on one night (probably from the place at Maesteg) and it was suprisingly good.

Well another vote from me now for the Afan Lodge! Great food, lovely interior, really nice bar staff. How many places would you go where the barmaid shares her giant chocolate buttons?

What I couldn't eat from my Welsh Cheese Plate (yum!) were packaged up for me to take away, in tin foil made to look like a little silver handbag 🙂

You can tell your little bro that it sounded great until discovering the prospect of being given a little silver handbag.

Unless something has changed at the Station in four years, the food and the ale was bland and tasteless when I visited. Afan Lodge is better but, the new visitor centre is ace, if you are prepared to eat a bit early! Otherwise, take your own food..................

Has anyone stayed at Afan Lodge? How much are the rooms there? (I didn't know it existed, despite the fact I must have driven past it a few times)

Not stayed there, but asked the prices. Something like £65, £70 and £80 depending on whether you have a room at the front or the back or family room.

Refreshment Rooms place seems to have gone downhill (no pun). Had two ales showing on handpumps (pump clips showing to customers), ordered a pint of the first to be told it had all gone. OK, I'll have the other instead, nope, that's all gone also. Riiiiight, pint of the cider then, nope, that's gone.

FFS!
