Hi All,
I've just had my Bird AM Zero (non-boost) hard tail serviced, and during the lower leg service I opted to drop my 2016 Yari from 150mm to 140mm.
Why, you might ask? Well, the frames I'm looking at upgrading to in the future (mainly Bird 120LT) are only rated for 140mm forks; so I thought it prudent to make the change now and also get the Debonair upgrade at the same time. Also I never once bottomed out the 150mm travel - i'm just not an aggressive rider; plus I thought the .5 degree increase in head angle would help on techy climbs.
So my first question is - what do I need to consider now I've done this? Are there any setup changes I should make?
This leads on to my next question:
Even before the drop by 10mm, I felt a lot of weight in my hands when seated. Research indicates I'll probably need some higher rise handle bars - any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
It's a small change, not really requiring anything done in parallel. I would probably ride it and see how it feels before you even change the bars.
In terms of what bar, not knowing what bar you have I'd just say try to match the upsweep and bascksweep of your current bars unless they feel uncomfortable, or better still just move spacers around to move them up if you have any above the stem.
Sorry, should've said.
It's these bars: https://www.raceface.com/products/details/turbine-35-20mm-rise-bars
I faffed with the rotation of the bar and I can't seem to decrease the weight on my hands. Stem is at the top already.
tried tilting your saddle back a little? made a decent amount of difference to me when it came to bar weight

Interesting; will give it a try. always a balancing act between weight on hands and weight on gooch...
