[#683213]

i'm having a prob with the rear mech on my cross bike despite doing all the usual tweaks/adjustments, just wondered if anyone could suggest anything to look at that i may have missed esp as the bike has just been put back together after a crash that bent the mech hanger.

the problem seems to be that when in the smallest sprocket if i put pressure on it jumps. i've had a new chain slip on an old sprocket before and it does'nt feel like that, nor is it not ghost shifting as with sticky cables and its not trying to jump up down a sprocket if it was out of tune. i've re tensioned the cable and reset the gears.

it is a new chain, but used sprocket although it has not done very many miles. i tried another used sprocket i had and still the jump, i have got a brand new sprocket which i'm going to shove on tomorrow just to see if makes a difference.

going back to the stack, the hanger i replaced but its the same mech. does anyone know if this could be symptomatic of a slightly bent frame or maybe mech?

Sounds like you kept your old chain on for too long, and let it stretch too far.

Check the high limit. Could need backing off a gnats chuff.

after a bit more swapping cassettes and fiddling to no effect, it turned out that i'd put the wipperman chain link on the wrong way. after years of sram powerlink it did'nt even occur to me that you could put a link on the wrong way! ooops!!!
