Hi all,I have a bike for sale in classifieds (link below)Just wondering if anybody could offer any advice on how to make it more saleable(apart from turning it into a mtb!!)is my price unrealistic etc? Many thanks
Needs photos.
You can't bump classified posts.
You listed it two days ago, no need for the thinly veiled extension to your advert.
Need to post or host and link to some good photo's of the actual bike.
Odd ball stuff will take a while to sell, and you need to be quite specific about the condition of parts, particularly as it's several years old...
fast training bike
mine would have had a lot of use and be knackered after 4 years!
I think, unfortunatly at £300 its too much. Maybe 150-200?
But with pics you will get a better response.
EBC have a very similar bike on sale for £290 and the 2015 model when it comes out will be £399.
Thanks, will try and figure out how to put actual pics up.(have offered to email pics of actual bike if anybody interested) I prefer to ride off road so hasn't seen an awful lot of use. Am pretty anal about keeping my bikes running smoothly. So as described, works as it should with no issues.
Njee20 are you the internet police? I'm keen to sell as midway through building up a mountain bike for my partner and run out of funds. Excuse my impatience/enthusiasm. Thought the post was overt, nothing veiled(clue was in the title.)
Thanks all for your input
You could post a thread in the main forum section drawing attention to your for sale ad 😉
Thanks DB Cooper. Spec on mine is a lot better, bike is significantly lighter but appreciate is secondhand. Will bear comments re price in mind though.
Thanks Boredombob but already done that mate 😀
£800 in '07
50% first year 10 % subsequent years leaves closer to £200.
You want too much money for it.
Where do you live?
Njee20 are you the internet police?
Toughen up princess. These posts piss me off. It's not sold because you haven't found someone who wants it. You want a quick sale? Get it on eBay with a 99p start price, it'll find its value.

This ^. Ebay is the great leveller.
If it was worth £300 it would have sold.
Cokie: I live in Cumbria(South lakes)
Take on board comments re. price. Had stated offers around £300 posted.
Njee, thanks for your input. You appear to be carrying around a lot of anger. It must be a right bloody minefield for you navigating the internet; if you're moved to action every time you read something that offends you. Unplug yourself and go and get amongst it.As I said in title- "advice on bike i have for sale" If you're ever up this way I offer free hugz to the disillusioned.
Gouranga!
To be honest it does not look like njee is the one getting his knickers in atwist. His posts read as honest not vitriolic.
I think we all get fed up with covert bumping of sales, it is hard to discern whats chat and whats bumping. This looks like bumping to be honest.
I'm obviously not very well versed in the nuances of ST forums. Just wanted some advice on how to sell a bike that i've got up on the classifieds. i'm not a big seller, just enjoy bikes. I put a link up to the sale as thought it would save people trawling through classifieds to find my ad. Seems a bit precious to me but hey ho i'll know for next time.
dbcooper's spot on, I'm not remotely angry, although I do roll my eyes at threads like this, particularly when they're from [s]parasites[/s] folk who are more active on the classifieds than the forum.
You sought advice. Your bike is worth what someone will pay for it. Someone may pay £300. You have not yet found that person. It's been 2 week days. Leave it a week, give it another go, post it again (as I said, you can't bump classified ads). If you want a quick sale, try dropping the price. Include photos, I'm not gonna bother to email you, I want photos of the item, not "it's like this" photos, even less so when it isn't really "like this", as it's a different colour.
All that said, IMO this is not the best place to sell stuff, I much prefer eBay these days. Yes there are fees, but your market is vastly bigger, and you don't get beaten up on price for a few pennies.
Thanks, but i'm no parasite Njee just wanted some advice. Your tone throughout has been pretty negative which is why i responded accordingly. if you look at my history it is fairly balanced between selling/general chat. Thanks for the advice though, will bear it in mind.
Good day to you all and thanks for the advice
Cokie are you interested? Email me I so thanks

it's been a while. 😯
it's been a while.
Aah, yes. Didn't notice the thread that long ago!
Thanks for your interest
You seem to think your classified ad is more important than everyone elses. It isn't.
The SB66 and Banshee Legend where my favorite daily bumpers of last year.
Glasgowdan I'm afraid you've arrived rather late to the party. Never mind, there's plenty of room for a l'al 'un.
Oh mate - I'd just stop now. Just stop it.
Oh mate - I'd just stop now. Just stop it.
NOOOO!!!! 🙄 this looked like it had the legs to become a classic!
Bump
you wanna bump, ava bump.
im not gonna look for the ad as its always the same thing.
100% description of the full spec including timings since parts last serviced, assume any potential buyer knows nothing and stick in a link to similar brand new sale.
Pics - not necessary to post fifty detailled pics in the advert, but 2 or 3 shots to whet the appetite is always a. gonna help b. alay fears that the 'bike' doesnt even exist. If there is any damage/wear reported in the description, show it in a pic.
realistic pricing.
sorry, this means you are likely to lose money on your sale.
tell the reader where you live, how far you will deliver/meet
as above, you wanna know what its worth, sell it on ebay and see. Might result in a well below expectation sale price, but it answers the question.
Thanks Soobalius. Just want to sell a bike to finish another bike for my partner. Forgot how wondrous this forum is. I can see why TJ left now 😉

I think he wanted to stay and fight, tbh.
Well sometimes it's better to be nice than right

Not on STW
Wow! Coincidence but this is exactly what I was looking for for my brother in law OP. Is the price firm?

think he'll need to grow a bit first 😆
Oh Christ.
don't fret it's not two sizes too small.
Hora price is negotiable as stated in orig post. I do have some funky specialised disco slipper sz 11 I can chuck into the mix if interested. Am assumming you re not taking the pee, although the wow! Did make me wonder...
Am I right it is 3rd hand and quite old? Do you have any pics of the actual bike ? you could improve the add by pricing the bike at £150 .
Hora
Am assumming you re not taking the pee,
You're new here, aren't you...
At 150 Crankboy I'd keep it. Thanks though
No Tom, have lurked for years. Part of my new year new me (blah blah)was to be more sociable and less of a cave dweller. As you can see from the above, that's going really well today 😉
It'll all work out for you OP, if you just major in non-sales threads.
See ya around.
