[#13536254]

Hi,

My new bike has an Acros integrated headset with a Blocklock similar to this one:

I want to ditch the crappy OE spacers and stem and fit standard spacers and a new stem obviously retaining the headset cable routing.

Is it just a case of buying the Acros cover linked below and using standard spacers etc or will I need something else?

Sorry for the links, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here and I’m not allowed to attach files. Thanks.

Add via the 'My Media' link at the bottom of the text entry box.

If it's anything like my Cube Acros ICR headset, I've just added spacers and a new stem with no issues.

Thanks, but all I have is “It is possible that you have not reached the minimum required number of posts, or your user group does not have permission to attach files in this forum”

Not sure why it says that, been a member for over 10 years with thousands of posts? Admittedly it’s been a while since I’ve been on here!

Does this link work? https://shop.truenorthcyclehub.co.uk/components/finishing-kit/acros-zs56-headset-cover--integrated-cable-routing__2404

My current set up uses this:

https://www.bike24.com/p2909290.html

I’d like to remove the existing cover and stack of spacers and replace them with the cover in the first link and use standard spacers and stem.

Very similar to my headset under all that guff. I reckon you could file off that little nubbin and it would work just fine with regular spacer and new stem. Or go through the faff of disconnecting everything and fit that new top cover.

Either will work grand.

Thanks, I was planning on removing the nubbin as you call it but will see if the spacers clear it first.

Unfortunately it doesn’t split to allow the hoses to pass through, good excuse to bleed the brakes as they need one anyway but that’s a story for another day.

Thanks again.

That’s the headset on my new cube. Just remove the old spacers and add your new normal spacers and stem which is exactly what I did, nothing else needed. Make sure you align everything in the headset perfectly, even a tiny misalignment in all the faff gubbins and it creaks 😆

It’s an annoying faff to do but very nice when done!

His is slightly different dude. Got little nubbins that hold it all aligned, so he's need to file off the one in the top cover or replace.

I've anl new cover sat here, just got to get it in the shop to have it fitted. I need the light cable removing and mapping out of the software, they may as well fit it at the same time.

Mine has lots of small plastic pins that align everything internally, is that what you mean? I was talking about the little plastic / rubber type bits that slot into the steerer spacers, even a mm doesn’t work with them…

No, the older ones have them externally to align the spacers. The newer ones like ours thankfully don't have that so it's easier to replace the spacers and stem.

FYI,I bought stem-dock from Ravens Outdoor to make faffing with the ICR headset less rage inducing works really well.

Thanks, I will have a look at the stem dock! 🙂
