...must have reasonable pub nearby any experiences would be most welcome. I have come up with some real rotten places when visiting Wales without recommendations! I guess we would be happy to travel half hour or so but want to be close ish to get maximum riding for a couple of days!

Not sure where the pub is but you could take your own. Everything I think brechfa, I think of mudtreks.

Right next to the start of the Gorlech trail. Great food.

http://www.glasfrynguesthousebrechfa.co.uk/ in Brechfa village, has it's own bar. Cheap and cheerful.

Near the start of the Derwen and Raven trails, nearest pub is Black Lion in Abergorlech (about 3 miles away).

Try the Gilfach Wen bunkhouse http://www.brechfa-bunkhouse.com/ ?
Not near a pub (or anything else for that matter) but might be better than nothing.
The Cothi View cottage owned by the Black Lion in Abergorlech is very nice, but a bit pricey.
