[#11400876]

Just for fun, I built this tool for investigating how different rear suspension designs work, based on a bit of clicking on a photo:

There are a few saved examples or you can click away from scratch.

There is also a tool for comparing different designs:

Interesting work, congratulations. Very similar picture/photo based method to define the layout as the bike checker linkage x3 software.

I've not used linkage, but yes I believe that it does something similar. (I suspect quite a lot more accurately)

For fun? You did all that ‘for fun’?

Jeeez, I feel so inadequate.

Well, I guess not just for fun (and definitely some points where it wasn't working were not fun). Maybe "without any commercial or professional intentions" would be more accurate. Basically I wanted to understand suspension design a bit more, and this seemed like a good way of achieving it.

Nice, I had a go at it but haven't read through all of it. Needed to look at some of you examples to get it right for the linkage points and putting the shock the right way round.

"Any slight rotation in the image has been corrected for everything that follows, to ensure that the front and rear wheels are level."
For two images I tried, this skewed the wheels so they were no longer quite circular. I verified in Paint.NET that they are actually circular in the photo.
