[#6971782]

Just got a Mavic XD freehub in the post. And realised that it comes without any pawls. Have to transplant them from the old freehub. Bit mean of them, I thought.

Any other stuff you've bought that fell a bit short of expectation?

According to the adverts, I'd be able to surf, skateboard and do a whole host of other things all of a sudden. Bloody liars!

Buying something and not getting other stuff related to it for free?
My expectations are usually a bit more realistic I guess.

presumably they came with bearings in them? Pawls doesn' seem a ridiculous addition especially considering how overpriced they appear to be on their own

This is the standard freehub body... I'd have expected the pawls would be part of it and supplied with. They are for Hope ones....

There are no pawls in the picture. But I agree, it is more than a bit tight.

I'd suggest there are four of them pictured.

Unless explicitly stated, I'd expect a freehub body to come with any bushings/bearings/springs/pawls that might reasonably be expected to be part of it. I'd draw the line at things like the driveside seal - that's not really part of the freehub even though you'd probably want a new one to fit.

Likewise, I'd expect a replacement hub to include a freehub.

Pedal Pins from Superstar
For £8.99 I genuinely thought a bag would contain enough for 2 pedals not just 1. If I had known this I would not have bothered.

Oh and why don't Alfine hubs come with all the bits to make it actually work. As it comes its just an overly heavy paperweight.

Not convinced by the Alfine argument. Things like shifters and cables are clearly not part of a derailleur.

That said, things can change depending how you buy something. Full retail packs are more expensive but tend to have goodies. For example, a full retail Shimano shifter in a branded box is probably going to have sufficient housing, end caps and nipples in addition to a an inner cable prefitted. Shock pumps, bottomless tokens, bleed kits etc. Not necessarily part of a fork or reverb, but you may get them as standard if it wasn't OEM in a bag.

I bought some bars, and the parcel arrived today without the bars, although it did have the dispatch note, a catalogue and some free sweets in an otherwise enormous empty box. Still somewhat short of expectation though.

Currently awaiting a reply to my email. Next step - the phone.

No it wouldn't, because by buying an XD body you obviously already have a suitable hub for it.

It's like a hub conversion kit not including bearings if you like.

Perhaps a bit tight, but meh... I'd not expect DT ones to include star ratchets either. They're not in the photos after all.

As I said, I just thought it a bit tight - Mavic normally include all sorts of unexpected goodies - their UST valves come with valve core removers, presta adapters, etc - the wheels came with 20 and 15mm adapters for frommnt, and QR/142 rear - they don't usually skimp.

VW don't fit rear speakers in a 7 seat car, or the wiring for them. They also do not run cables to boot/ junction for tow bar electric either.

I bought a quick link from Wiggle and got one half of a quick link. When I read the small print it did say that was all you got but they were good enough to send me the other half when I asked what use half a link was.
