Shame it's one of a kind, I would have liked to buy 2, his and hers for riding 'round town'

ยฃ520 for the chainring?
Some people obviously have far more money than sense!

Dripping in XT

The fancy 10 speed stuff. Just like you'd expect on a bike that's up for ยฃ3.5k ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Sue Naylor would soon 4x2 you round the back of the noggin if you were foolish enough to ride around here on that drug dealer mobile. She'd think Christmas come early

Condition 'new other'.

So is the frame new or not?

Let's not be coy.

Condition 'new other'.

Not new enough to be able to claim on warranty when it cracks in 18 months time.

So the poor guy dropped off his frame and wheels for refurb and now can't afford the bill, so it's been sold off on eBay?

Checks calendar - no, it's not April 1st.

Someone's having a laugh. One of a kind doesn't count for much in the bike market - apart from attracting the wrong sort of attention like....I'm going to nick it to fund drug habit - to be clear I don't mean I'm going to nick it.

Refurbed frame & wheels - what was wrong with them?

More money than sense.

ยฃ3.5k for 26"? I would have expected at least 29" for that money..........

A professionally refurbished to hard tail?

New decals?

Or crack repair?

Caveat Emptor.

No returns; sold as seen - let me force my way to the front of the queue.......
I'm sure it's worth every penny but it doesn't quite tick every box for me - nearly, but......

Scotchbrite pads.

I quite like it and if I was in the market for one, might go as high as a grand. I did nearly commuterise mine but I would have felt too bad.

Particularly enjoyed the 'client' backstory, which adds a new twist to the over priced ebay spares bin special genre.

Posted a couple of comments about this and have been following the thread.

I'm surprised there have been no sarcastic posts; I expected better from the STW fraternity.

Would be interesting to know who Ricardo (eBay seller) is and whether anyone is prepared to comment - who, why, background, trustworthy........before I make my first and final offer.

But it's nice.

The great thing about ebay and 26" bikes is that you can pick up some real bargains these days.

Just yesterday I bought a very sorted orange 5 for under ยฃ600.

Nope, I think that looks awful. Can't decide if people are genuinely fawning (price aside) or not. I wouldn't pay ยฃ350 for it!

Always fancied a Soda. If it was frame only I might, just might, be tempted to take a punt on it for 350 quid knowing that it may well snap tomorrow.

well I looked at it and thought "nice bike", bit over priced but not absolutely taking the pยฃ$s like some bikes you see on ebay.
then I saw some of the comments so went back and had another look, guess what, it's still a nice bike but somewhat over priced. What exactly is wrong with it apart from an optimistic price ???

Mostly the price.

I think the last Soda frame was 2009, so it's at least 7 years old. And it's a Ti frame without warranty. I think probably optimistically you'd get 500 quid max for it.

And it's 26", which is fine but old hat. The Crank Brothers wheels have a pretty poor reputation.

Old 10sp XT parts are a bit budget for an "ultimate build".

Then there's the carbon forks and the "town bike" build.

As has been said, a grand would be a reasonable ask.

Unfortunately he canโ€™t take delivery because of an illness.

A mental illness presumably, judging by the bike he'd just specced.

its funny, that ยฃ520 chainring looks awfully similar to this handmade ti chainring from texas

http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/10943588/

that was being sold for $110..

For ยฃ520 I would have wanted someone to chew that chainring into shape.

Good spot! I was trying to work out what it was. As far as I can see, there has never been any sort of ti chainring for which you could pay ยฃ520...

What a rip-off and ffs those spacers, you can't just have one part off-coloured like that

I recently sold a 26" Ti singlespeed. Didn't have a ยฃ520 chainring but was decent spec - XT brakes, Thomson bars/stem, Hope hubs, Velocity P35 rims etc,.
The fact it was singlespeed would have no doubt lowered the value but it sold for ยฃ570.

Would agree that ยฃ1000 would be about right for a higher end price for the Soda.

I'm still not sure I'd be spending that on a second hand frame and wheel's with some 10 speed XT slapped on it. Think he would be better putting some standard finishing kit on and selling the ti bits separately. But hey, gotta love a try'er, and seems he may have read this thread and removed his chainring fib.....
