Looking for a bit of inspiration here.

Only dabbled once with a 29er - A Singular Swift.

Just couldn't get the balance of spec & weight etc right 🙁

Just landed a new 29er frame - Thank you Tony - so looking for some examples.

Can thee help?

think I'll show mine in "starting to apprecaite that this is not enough bike for the alps" pose. Me on the right with the fixed grin (not long before massive off on the longest bit of steep I've ever ridden. Seriously, you know those drop offs you do that then G-out at the bottom and you go "wheeeeee", well it was like that, but the g-out was 1km from the start and sound was of me swearing profusely!)

This was day 3, was begining to feel a bit beaten up but the bike was absolutely mechanical free. Amazing.

On the Inbred? they were stock Retard rims on retard hubs(basically DMR revolvers) Proper SS hub with screw on free-wheel. Which I hated as I broke 3 in a year.

Best SS hub I have had was a Planet X cassette type which would only take 1 sprocket.

Tazzy - where'd you get the serfas bar ends? fancy some as the cane creek's i've got are a bit tubby (not that it'll make a huge difference but i'm putting the bike on a bit of a diet).

This is my own design,, i sent the drawings to XACD in China and this is what they made
The idea was to try out a really short chainstay 29er this one is 417mm to 437mm
i have another being made with chainstays of 407-427 i dont intend to run this short but I want to try out the new gates center drive belt so it needs to go shorter to fit the belt then with the correct tension it should end up back at 417 ish ,
the bike climbs well and is great on the singletrack,,

They start at £450 for a bog standard non bells and whistles diamond style frame - or they did when i enquired in 2010.
with bend in the downtube, one in the top tube and a toptube / seat tube brace it went up to around £750 shipped.

Here's my Chumba HX2 with Alfine rear hub, I've been getting on with it but am considering going back over to normal gears as I find the gaps in the hub a little too much.

Unless someone has a Alfine 22 Tooth rear cog?
