Do these come in a drilling other than 32?

If not, are there any other proper UST rim available?

Not keen on Stan's, tbh. They're not really proper UST, & I worry about the durability of non-eyeletted rims.

Can you get Deemax rims aftermarket? At 23mm bed, they're a bit wide for the XC mincing that forms most of my riding.

Stans aren't a proper UST rim. They use a strip

Have you ever used them? They really are fantastic. They do use a bit of tape, but I don't know why that's a problem?

I've not used Stan's rims; I have used DT rims with a Stan's kit, & Mavic SLRs which are much better, but 24h. Could really do with something more robust, & can probably cope with 32h, but Lefty hubs seem to be more easily available in 28h.

Stans isn't "proper" UST in that the rim isn't airtight without the tape, but it works exactly as well, and they're a heck of a lot lighter (remember the Mavic claimed weights for the 8XX rims are, well, total lies- they don't include the nipple insert things).

As for durability, can't really comment as mine aren't old enough but I've never heard of any long term issues.

my old prophet came with 819s so there must be a lefty hub to match out there.

28h, sure they're available elsewhere.

Agree that Stans are days and nights better though, UST rims and tyres are just too much of a weight penalty IMO.

In my case, any weight saving would be offset by the rider being a fat knacker ๐Ÿ˜›

Good news about 28s though - thanks for the link.

Don't disregard Stans rims. I've just laced a Flow rim onto a hub i previously had an XM819 rim on. I dinged the XM819 rim so badly that when i tried to straighten it, the rim cracked! So i thought i'd try a Flow rim.

I thought UST rims were great until i tried the Flow. One layer of tape, poked the valve through and the tyre inflated quicker than the previous 'proper' UST set-up did. Can't comment on longevity of non-eyeleted rim but not heard anything negative yet.

Here's a negative for you Nick:) Just replaced a Stans for a customer because the spokes had pulled through the rim, not sure what she'd done to it apart from xc racing, but they made hell of a mess.

Friend has a 24H 819, the hub has just broken itself and chances of finding another 24H hub seem low.

he'd be willing to sell ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you're racing maybe but in the real world it hardly matters. My 819s with a hope rear and a boggo 20mm front are 1800g built up. Not exactly lardy.

Coatesy...that would indeed suck, if you had paid retail on a Stans rim ๐Ÿ˜‰

Keppoch,

I've got a fairly low-mileage 24h rear hub on a trashed DT rim that I might be willing to part with if local (Rochdale).
