Probably been done before but want to build up a set of hope disc hubs with a 700c/29er rim. going on a croix de fer as a do it all bike any recomendations ? preferably disc down to 28c tyres not too expensive

I ran some fairly hefty 700c rims on my CdF. I was using Deore hydros with Midge bars.
Open Pros are fine rims, ideal for road and cross. If you are going to go a bit mental off road, then perhaps a sturdier rim. Not sure what the next one up in strength is though?

Mavic A317 was a great choice as a touring weight and strength disc 700c rim. Been discontinued though so tricky to find now.
Have a peek over at Spa Cycles. Tough rims a speciality.
