I have picked up a really good condition second hand specialized hotrock 20 for our daughter.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/hZSntP2gEnTPjDEH9

She is getting a bit big for the spesh idlejon gave her, that will be put by ready for our youngest. It has a 6 speed freewheel by the looks of it and a revoshift. I have searched but can't find one, is there a 6 speed trigger shifter available anywhere or should I change it to 7 speed? Where would be best to get any of the parts from?

Thanks

Stick a seven speed on there and adjust it so that it can't shift into "1" on the display?

General opinion seems to be that the Revo shift needs spotless cabling to work effectively though.ย  Triggers tend to be more forgiving.

I've had grip shifts before, but much prefer triggers. Thought the revoshift looked a bit bulky and she is near enough 6 now so has small hands, hence the thought. Will see how it goes. Thanks again.

The SRAM MRX shifters tend to need good cables otherwise it can get very stiff, Revoshift is a lot more tolerant.

Anyway, if you decide to go for triggers just let me know, I have loads of trigger shifters and 7 speed freewheels you can have if you need them.

Nice new bike!

As above, trigger shifter lever travel and resistance can be too much for small hands.

My kids experience was the opposite - couldn't operate a twist shift but had no such problems with a trigger shifter. As far as parts go look for something like an Altus shifter and there are plenty of choices for a 7 speed cassette. If you are going to fit a 7 speed then look for the ones with the 34t bail out sprocket, can be a lifesaver for tired legs
