I can see the tyre has been rubbing slightly on the non drive side chain stay, must be from a combination of wheel / frame flex (it clears by 4 or 5 mm) - was using 2.25 Schwalbe Albert, anyone else had this or recommend an alternative similar sized tyre that fits better? - dont want to drop down to a 2.1.

Trimming knobs can be handy. I had a similar problem with a 3in Gazzaloddi in the back of an Planet X Armadillo.

Maybe.

I cant get it to flex enough to push up on the stray by weighting one pedal so i guess its coming from impacts? Any tyre come to mind that will be ok? - I wanted bigger than a 2.1, its just a bit to skinny.

Use Kenda Nevagals on mine with reasonable success, 2.1 but they seem a bit wider.

The wheels true, it only rubs on the one side (non drivetrain side).

Mine does that with most tyres from not landing jumps straight - a small bit of heli tape round the stay has stopped any wear. ๐Ÿ™‚

thats why I asked, if its only rubbing on one side it may be dished for a different frame.

take the tire off, and look at the whole thing from behind in a bike stand, is the rear wheel directly in line with the seatpost/headtube, different manufacturers have different ideas about how to line up the cassette/chain line etc so move the wheel arround a bit. Either resulting in the wheel being built with the rim central between the flanges or off to one side towards the cassette, or anwhere in between.

As thisisnotaspoon is more on the button on this one. Something isnt right. Recheck your casssette- refit. Check your cones (for splits)- One of my Chris King cones split on one side and made the wheel seat a very slightly 'off angle'. Get the frame alignment checked as well. I ran a 2.4 Mtn King in mine (although briefly) and it had shed loads of clearance both sides.
