Just putting one on my sus bike. So let shock down,compressed bike,chain around 2 largest cogs plus 2 links.
In it's ready to ride state the chain is miles too long.This is my first go with a shadow mech is there anything i need to do to the mech as there's no natural rest for it.
Tempted to shorten chain till it looks "right". Advice please.
Fist thing shift bib to big and pull mech forward till it's tight to see how much excess you have. How much difference does compressed mean on your bike?
If it's significant just unbolt the shock.
Count the links and remove enough.
The fact that it's a shadow mech is not relevant is it?
Just go big-big and add 2 links. I never bother with compressing the suspension - chain growth is usually only a few mm - 15mm or so at most so 2 links will cover it.
