Think Shimano use teeth that are angled forwards slightly on their "Dynamic Chain Engagement" single ring. So I guess that doesn't need to have an even number of teeth, though they only seem to be doing them in even numbers.
Just buy a 34t and file one off
I imagine they are as rare as a headset for a tapered threaded steerer tube 😛
