I need to replace my Raceface BB. Its normally an easy choice of a Shimano one but because I now have RF turbine cranks I need a 30mm one.

Are the Hope ones better value? Can the bearings be replaced when they wear out etc? I am fed up of the shimano way of sealed units and stuff being disposed of and want to generate as little waste as possible!

Bearings can be replaced, mine are 2.5 years old and one side starting to fell a little rough.

I fitted my newย Hope 30mm yesterday to replace the original RF one.

They need a special tool as the outside diameter is bigger than Hollow tech II and the RF one. I got my special tool from Charlie the Bikemonger which arrived super quick.

Take care when pre loading the bearings. I managed to muller my pre load ring by over tightening the lock screw. It is made of very soft plastic.

Hope bearings can be replaced.

I've replaced bearings in both Rotor and hope BBs. Some swearing was involved - I think I need to find something better to hold the cup as I knock out the bearings (maybe an old dead steel/alloy frame that I can clamp in a vice) but it is doable. I've found the stock hope ones to outlast rotor, but the rotor ones are cheaper.

The Hope ones are slightly narrower than the RF ones so you may want to add a few 1mm spacers to adjust your chain-line.
