Currently have schwalbe g one speeds (I think) - the pimply ones. Seem to work well but wear out fast

mainky road use with occasional (dry) gravel track / tow path etc thrown in

any good alternatives? Thanks

Bontrager R3 Hard-Case Lite TLR tyre, 32mm or 28mm rather than 30mm though. No tread to speak of but mine have covered a couple of thousand miles on road, bridleways and even the odd bit of South Downs and just wont die.

At 30mm and assuming your use is 90%+ road, then just a slick tyre will be better.  Conti GP 5000 S TR.

Schwalbe Marathon works just fine for me based on that requirement - again though it's 28mm or 32mm

Urgh, really? I'm desperately trying to repair a slice in the sidewall of my GP 5000 which is threatening to become a blow out (still on tubes) and which occurred because I rode in the gutter once too often to let traffic past. Had similar on my GP 4000s from a very short detour off road where I didn't bother dismounting.

Had assumed the tread just wasn't deep enough to protect the carcass from anything worse than typical road debris.

Pirelli Cinturato Velo TLR on the other hand are marketed as having significant extra tread depth and I've deliberately gone gravelling on them more than once with no ill effects.

Edit: or Vittoria Terreno Zero for some token shoulder tread but entirely slick centre

How low were you running them to get a slice in the SIDEWALL?

35000km of commuting and unpaved roads with GP5000 TL and S TR and only 2 punctures which needed an anchovy, both when the tyre was worn to the canvas.   I've had a few where it's lost pressure whilst the sealant has taken time to seal the gap, but then a few days later, it's all fine again.

My bad, it's on the shoulder (i.e. where the token 'tread' is).

Maybe the tubeless version is thicker or more robust or something, at no point during the ride did I recall any sort of impact or moment that might have resulted in a ~5mm slice through the carcass and flap of tread material hanging off. Maybe it was just bad luck.

Specialized Roubaix Pro 30/32?

Nice grippy feeling tyre with added protection for rough roads / potholes / etc.

Panaracer gravel slicks. I've got some in 32mm flavour on my winter bike. Tough enough for a bit of gravel as they are based on the full gravel tyre. Pay a weight penalty though.

I find gp5000 a bit prone to cuts so am nervous with mine on rough stuff. Some of the other models might be ok though like the cheaper ones or the 4 seasons.

Vittoria Terreno Dry in 31mm flavour. Look at mild CX tyres because the width is rules-limited unlike gravel tyres
