hi, as per title!

one issue is snow. i may be able to ride road in approx one month, but otherwise it is indoor training or xc skiing.

i train weights at the gym 3 x a week, so i'm ok there.

its the multi day part that worries me! any advice gratefully received.

I did the transalps in 2010 and recall I was fairly fit to start but my training was essentially two blocks

Christmas to March:
gym 3 times a week (weights, core and aerobic) and 3 rides a week (one midweek 2 hours long plus two 4 hour rides back to back at the weekend)

March to June:
Gym time reduced (twice a week) but still doing core and weights (I dropped the aerobic) and moved to 4 rides a week (two 2 hour rides (Tuesday and Thursday) and two 6 hour rides back to back at the weekend)

It may be that you can cover enough of the “aerobic training” with xc skiing but I’d be hitting the turbo / roller to make sure that when you pick up riding you can go for an extended time on the bike without joint (sore knees etc) or contact point (saddle in particular) issues

I went from tubby to a coast to coast in 10 weeks.
I rode every day - shops, work, friends I deliberately used the steep hills in Sheffield ( I lived at the top) and often just went and climbed our road the second time, just because.
I rode evenings off road MTB at least 5 times a week.
I was the fittest of our party by a reasonable amount, and felt strong all week.

I also didn't ride the last 4-5 days before. I felt very rested to start.

Little update. I have listened to the podcast, spoken to a few people who have done TP, and perhaps of most use I've spoken to the former MTB orienteering world champion and she has given me a program.

Basically interval training during the week and long rides at weekends, plus an order to do less gym work as i was going anyway 3 times a week.I apparently have the strength side covered , and i  need to recover for the intervals, which are horrible!
