Hi wondered if anyone could help. I've just picked up a set of Stans 29er Flow rims, built onto hope pro 2's and wanted to run some Ardents (2.25 rear, 2.4 front). I've had a hell of a struggle getting the tyres onto the rims, worse than downhill tyres. I've had to use metal downhill tyre levers and in the process Ive punctured several inner tubes. I'm really concerned that if I were to puncture on a ride I'd be stuffed. Top tips anyone?

tubeless, different tyres, soapy water.

Also make sure the bead drops into the well of the rim when installing.

If you have to use tyre levers to get them on then it's a bad combo IMO.

As above, you've nice tubeless compatible rims, go tubeless!

Stan's rims are designed particularly for tubeless (with fluid) - stop fooling around and go tubeless!

i'm running nobby nic pacestar 2.25" on 29" arch EX.

easy to get onto rim and with the correct rim strip, totally succesful tubeless set up...

if they're that tight, you're right to be worried !

TLR, rim strip? Why not yellow tape?

Cheers for all the replies, gonna go with Nobby Nics, maybe tubeless although my efforts so far haven't worked....
Will be selling a mint, unused pair of 29er Ardents in classifieds soon (cost £88 but I won't be asking that much)

I run 29 inch Arch rims and to date I've needed levers to get every tire I've used on them, the list includes

-Ardents
-Crossmarks
-Ignitors
-Ground Controls
-Renegades
-FastTraks

I struggle with both tubes and tubeless, I figured it's par for the course in order to get the seal you need when running tubeless

Always found Ardents easy to get on the rims unlike Kendas
