Got both, similar weight to you. Flows might seem a bit ott in terms of width/strength but they are still pretty light in comparison to most others. I've knackered some crest predecessors (355s) being clumsy and hitting a big rut hard on a night right so I'd go Flow if I was you. My crests are reserved for a light pair of tyres to live on for wheels on the ground xc/adventure race style rides.

Similar weight also.
Flows for deffo. Crests are very noodly and proper sized tyres don't sit nice on them.

Cheers convert i was thinking that way i tend to land heavy and dont always take the smoothest line, any advantage with the straight pull do you know.

I "think" straight pull are meant to be stronger. I know no more than that! Hub will be a non standard version of the pro2 I guess. I build most of my own wheels up and always go very conventional with normal "j" spokes built 3 cross. Thoughts behind it are these sort of spokes can be bought from just about any bike shop in the country so good news in a spot of bother doing a repair on the fly.

I reckon your average 29erist would be better on Crest. But Flow is a great rim and not really that heavy so it's not the end of the world to carry around the extra mass. No Arch option?

Straight pull is supposed to be stronger, but with quality spokes I can't remember the last time I broke one at the J anyway. The tradeoff is being unable to find replacements (there wasn't a single straightpull spoke in Fort William when I bust one there, let alone one the right size). Also they can be a pain to build/tweak as they can rotate in the hub instead of tightening/loosening- easy to get round in the workshop, not so good on the hill.

I don't think it's a big enough downside to worry about when you get a good deal or a wheel only comes in SP, but I reckon if you've got a choice then SP is basically daft.

Flows with standard spokes here and holding up well.

As above, would be a right pain in the rear end damaging a spoke and having to hunt for a replacement.......

TBH if you've got straightpulls you should just get some in advance and keep them in your toolkit. Hope Hoops usually come with spares I think? Mine did anyway.
