After some decent 29" mud tyres. Used to ride 1.9 rocket Ron in bad mud but they don't do them that skinny on 29".
Any suggestions please?

Bonty mud. I used to have a serious tyre habit but now just leave them on all year. Grippy and fast.

I found schwalbe dirty dans even better but they are pricy.

Another vote for Bonty Mud X here. Kept one on the back all last year, and only took the front off for a couple of months mid summer. The way this year has gone so far they'll be staying on. Easy tubeless set up too on Stans rims.
