your bottom bracket'll be 1.5" higher for a start 🙂

that is gonna bring the BB up quite high.

lifted 1.5" because of the wheels and then a bit because of the fork.

it'll ride like a gate i reckon.

I though instability would be a problem

I doubt it will even fit in the back without a huge slider. Like to see someone try it.

The fork is the least of your worries - rigid 26 inch fork will fit because they are suspension corrected and therefore have clearance.

I did it with an Evil Soveriegn.
I made some custom rear dropouts based on the 26" sliding drop outs with the frame only 30mm longer.
Yes the BB was higher, but it ride well.
I was previously riding it as a 69er and put the 26" rear wheel back in recently as I sliced my 29er rear tyre.
It has stayed like that since

Wodoo - if you plan on making droputs , you could ofset the axle upwards to get lower bb, if there is room in the upper bridge area.
