Mate is testing the water too see if he enjoys a bit of biking. It’s only bridle paths etc and picked up a free Carrea Parva.
It’s obviously a budget not really MTB type of bike but it’s a start.
It needs some new tyres which are 27.5 X 1.95. I doubt much wider will fit the rims but not sure. 2.10 might be too much?
Anyway, anyone know of any budget tyres that won’t cause instant death? It’s not worth spending much as it’s not really a bike to invest in.
On-one have Vittoria Saguaro 27.5 x 2.0 ,which should fit.
Try Spesh ground control or purgatory.
Sorry, a bit pricey really.
The rim doesn't determine the width (unless riding at low pressure) just get whatever will clear the frame and fork.

Use shop filter and price low to high. But as above, I wouldn't worry too much about rim width for your mate's stated use.
