Thinking about future proofing any upgrades to the trusty Alpine 160. And was thinking that if I upgraded the fork in the near future(such as to a Pike) would I be able to get my 26 front wheel/tyre combo in a 27.5/650b fork? I assume you can and it'll just have a bit more clearance. I know it will slightly change the geo of the bike but no more than swapping out to a 170mm fork or a slightly taller A2C.

It'll be fine. Extra offset should pretty much cancel out the change in feel from the extra A-C length. You might need to drop your stem down the steerer a bit.

Works fine, and if you have "big" tyres, you can hardly tell the difference:

I run 160mm 650b fork on a 26 inch bike meant for a 170.

Really bad photos as my phone is low on battery so no flash.

Tyre is a 2.4 Chunky monkey which is slightly smaller than the less grippy Hans Dampf

There was a recent article in The Lancet where researchers definitively showed that doing this results in a mild case of death.
