I'm only interested in 26 bikes, have a brand new Prince Albert frame to build up. The switch to 29/27.5 has meant I've spent less on bikes than I might have done otherwise. In thr market for some decent 120 - 140 1 1/8th straight forks

Well the spirit of the forum is actually "free user generated content which is used and edited to attract users to create income for the owners through advertising revenue."

But if your premeditated goal is simply to turn over cheap bikes to make money, then it seems quite a cynical outlook.

All paying jobs are essentially this are they not?

From my recent experience there is still good demand for 26" kit & I've got decent enough prices for stuff I've sold (3 sets of forks in the last 6 months, 3 wheelsets). The only thing I've found hard to shift has been tyres.

It seems quite cynical. Fair enough, if you somehow accidentally end up making money on the sale of a few bits by way of happenstance. But if your premeditated goal is simply to turn over cheap bikes to make money, then it seems quite a cynical outlook. You're [or should I use 'one is'?] depriving another buyer of a bike they might actually have liked, while simultaneously selling parts on to make money out of the cycling community.
Surely there's more fulfilling ways of earning money.

Sorry but I don't really see the major problem, he took a flyer, spent hos own money and time buying a bike, parting it out and selling, I think a little bit of profit for knowing his onions is fair...

No point me selling my 26" hardtails - I'll get f-all for them.

I'm just going to wait until my kids are about 12 or 13 and will fit them with the saddles down a bit. It'll mean they're riding to school on £2k bikes, but if they're only 'worth' £300 on eBay, what can I do ?!

Well I think if the guy can make some money on bikes or bits good on him way of the world its the manufacturers that have shafted us MTbikers really.

My mate bought that 20" neon five frame , absolute steal ,

I like others have toyed with the idea for selling my 26 Five and moving across to the 650b but as my Five at the moment is almost Factory spec and id get less than half the cost of a new 650 factory I have to say why bother , I love 26" wheels , but that's another story , for me I'm still sold on 26" and there will be a time when the 26ers will rule again

New bikes aren't all that! Tried a raft of 650b bikes and today a "modern" 29er full sus and shock horror, they were just bikes!
All great in their own way, but worth a not insignificant wedge of cash to "upgrade" to, nope.

26" is alive and well, while I demoed the 29er at cannock today, most of the bikes I saw were 26".
I do think that most of those happy owners are trying to buy up any good components which is keeping the current market buoyant.

I'm just accumulating bits for a new 26in build which I think is going to be sensational.

I'll have one of each wheel size then.

🙂

I've got a Yeti ASR5 frame I should sell, but I'm half tempted to hold onto it for a few years, old Yetis in decent nick seem to have their fans.

Is this for sale?
