Hi I'm going to be using a 20mm front axle and I have heard a lot about them getting stuck and you should grease them every now and then.
I was thinking of using park tools polylube 1000.
Any thoughts on this grease or a better one for the job?
And what about the 12mm rear axle does that need the same?

Depends how often they come out. More often they come out, the less need there is to grease.

Any grease will do.

As a fitting instructor at work once said, grease it, grease it all. But if you can see the grease, you've used too much.

I doubt I will be taking it out much
Would putting some of it on a rag and just wiping the axle be enough?

Just a dab and smear it all over with your fingers. Remember, these axles are a very close fit so there isn't really any space between faces for the grease to sit.
