That course has claimed a lot of victims.
Hopefully all just broken bones, but still that's a lot of riders' years over.
Safety in pro cycling is ridiculous. I can think of one death, at least one brain death this year, and at least two other life changing injuries. That descent should never have been on the course.

Even just haybales on the outside of the corners would have provided a barrier to those huge kerbs, and given the width of those gutters wouldn't have narrowed the actual road surface much.

I seriously flinched watching that crash. Those kerbs are horrific. Need some good news but my god she was like a rag doll.

so what that race tells us is that if the yank lass had risked more "life and limb" in the decent she would have won gold, a new low for the olympics. I'm out.

Properly bad crash in slow mo, not the best advert really is it.
That's a bad crash, she landed very heavily on the kerb with her spine taking the full impact then no movement from her, even by the time the chasing group had passed the scene. I so hope there is good news soon
