Hi,
Ive just upgraded to the 2012 XT drivetrain, i have however stumbled upon a problem, my HOPE tech M4 lever brackets that attach to my 2011 stuff will not fit my 12 shifter pods ?
Now my brakes are all of a dither ive got two humongus brackets from the shifters all cluttered up, i cany get them far enough away from the grips to allow my hands on the bars without fouling the up or down shift levers and my brake levers are at the right position to allow one finger braking but if i put the shifters the other side towards the stem i have to do 4 finger braking !
I didnt consider this ? and presumed they would go straight on to the other brackets.
i know this sounds odd but ive just developed OCD ! its affecting my concentration whilst i ride ?
Any advice, ive tried HOPE and they didnt know they were different either ?
Yep Hope aren't on the case are they ! with trade shows and the like you would think that they had spotted that.
YES 2012 XT shifters are different to previous models and for using 'matchmakers' the mounting is angled. Pretty sure that they still have the two horizontal positions though.
Likewise older XT shifters won't mount direct to new 2012 shimano XT brakes.
You'll have to Hope they wise up and make some or just suck it up like a big lad and mount your shifters seperately like anyone else ! If you seriously can't get them into a suitable position you really want to revise your bar set up.

Where did you get your 2012 groupset from, have been checking the net and LBS regularly and as yet not seen it advertised?

Thanks for the heads up, the shifters are fitted but the bar set up is not ideal.
The actual thumb shifter is massive and really gets in the way, the flip side is that the other shifter is too stubby with an exaggerated end ?
They are probably fine with the relevant XT Brakes but I ditched them and kept the tech M4s
I've got to get used to not catching the levers then it'll prob be OK !

The adaptor shown on top is for mounting to the new brake levers.
Doesn't it look a lot like the XTR ? Do hope do a matchmaker for the XTR ??

But I think those are 'ISPEC' ones.
The standard ones with the windows do appear to have the same mounting arrangement as the previous versions but I'm not 100% certain now.
Sorry to have mislead, perhaps Hope were right and I've missed something damnit !!
