I've noticed that the new R1s don't have braided cables, and that they have introduced a new R1 race version; also the 2012 R1 looks to be 20g or so heavier than the earlier version; do you reckon they are cutting corners here in favour of the new race version?
The silver levers also look better IMO.

Dont know, I have 2011 and spent a fortune for them. I dont even want to look at them.

I think the 2011s look better anyway -- and the listed weight is lighter, so don't worry.
