Don't know if this has been asked before, but I have a pair of Recon SL forks. I think they're the 2007 or 2008 model, air sprung and solo air, NOT motion controlled, and running at 100mm. My question is can the travel be increased on this model by removing the plastic spacer,(if it has one). I know I could find out by dropping off the lowers and looking inside to see if it has a plastic spacer, but wondered if anyone knew before I went down this route.

Thanks in advance.

I've done a set. Chances are thay have a spacer inside yes. The ones I had were 85mm, and there was a 50mm spacer in there. It's easier to make one fork and use a 2p spacer to set the travel than to make 5 different forks!

That said, THE ONLY way to be sure is to take them apart 🙂

(service them whilst you're at it too)

Thanks for the reply PP.

That sounds promising then, but as you say, it looks like the only way to be sure is to strip them down then.

Thanks again.

Which leg is the spacer on? I think I have the same forks and changed the spring for a firmer one last summer and there weren't any spacers in that leg.

Konaboy, if you have a coil sping fork there is no spacer, that's only in the air models. 🙂

Ah well, better start searching the sale items on t'internet... Missed the unbelievably cheap float 32's on chainreaction before xmas (£175) but there's some cheap deals around at the moment.
