I have a One Up Components Radr cage left over from my 1 x 10 system, from when I went 1 x 11, and also have 2 x 10 on my XC bike, which I'm happy leaving 2x. However, I was thinking - as its' needing new chain & cassette anyway - of putting a 40T cassette on it with the Radr cage on the XT rear mech - any reasons why not? I'll wait for all the MTFU comments with pleasure, but in my defense I am old.....

As long as it has enough capacity, rad cage is only medium isn't it? No reason why it shouldn't work.
