I'll keep an eye out in Notts but by the sound of it they were pro's so don't hold your breath mate but those wheels stick out like a sore thumb so there is hope (no pun intended) black pro2's on mavics are everywhere. I'll tell the local sustrans/ridewise instructors etc and the Dr Bikes to keep em peeled.
Why cheap? I'm assuming that you're wanting to keep expensive bikes safe so why do locks/alarms/less glamourous things have to be cheap?Because I spent all my money on my bike
OP maybe even an alarm isnt a good idea. If it goes off at 4 in the morning will you wade out and into the unknown?
Will Police prioritise the call 'shed theft in process'.
House from now on. Its a huge leap from shed to house/confrontation.
Pro's like they are will keep low key.
cant help wondering what happens to all the bikes that are pinched?
i know they are probably stripped and sold that way but next to none of our stolen bikes or parts are ever recovered.
is there a shed somewhere with 1000's of stolen frames in? or are they somehow sold abroad?
im sure no one really has the answers to these questions but would sure like to know.
Canals, crude resprays etc
ok canal dredger on order, ๐
makes you feek sick that hundreds of pounds worth of frames could be rusting in the cut.
When I was a kid I was really in road riding. I had a spin on an amazing paint-gloss painted roadbike. Much better than my bike. It looked like shit. The lad who had it also used to collect car stereo's ๐
With reference to shed alarms, etc, what about those that use a shotgun blank cartridge?

Might be an idea to put a national search notification jobby on eBay for your individual components.
already on it jekkyl, although did the same thing when my ariel got stolen last year all my self builds are pretty colour co-ordinated (or completely garish) depending on your opinion lol, some pretty decent kit that im sure i would have recognised if i had come across it but to this day i never have.
gary-c that is the post of the day, that is a definate, although id probably forget about it and scare the mrs to death while shes putting the washing out ๐
Sorry to hear about another loss bud, will keep a look out on the various classifieds! I use an hidden security camera with motion sensors & a well trained couple of bike guarding American akitas ! If they fail the shotgun won't, god forbid it ๐
Lol cheers ripper
Sorry to hear of your loss, I am in Coventry so will keep an eye out for you. Gumtree and flebay are the usual places and most likely to be advertised. Also worth striking a wanted at on gumtree, here and pinkbike as you never know.
I once had a wanted ad on pinkbike and was offered a 2012 orange frame, which was cheap and the chap sounded dodgy. So looked up on the stolen section on bikeradar and guess what the bike has been stolen 3 weeks earlier. Luckily the chap manged to get his bike back and scumbag nicked.
I had 2 bikes stolen back 95-97 both shed, both just after the insurance paid up. Never seen again until recently one of mine was a distictive raleigh max oversized in red, never saw another like it, until 2 weeks ago spotted some mid 20 year old riding round on it. I was shocked and suprised as in the same day i saw an old saracen in mint condition, convinced it was mine i grabbed a local pcso, grabbed the bike, quick check the bike is still stamped underneath with my old postcode and initials. Police took the bike, still awaiting its return.
They must store them somewhere for years then flog them, couldn't believe i saw both bikes in the same day.
lmt, thats a bizzare story, fingers x you will finally get your bike back, hope it not quite so long untill i see mine.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the posts some very helpful
Still no sign if my bikes as you would probably expect.
Not all bad news though my insurance company have replaced my bikes with no fuss at all, so while I'm still angry that it happened, I have shiny new bikes.
The insurers were sainsburys who have been brilliant(just incase anyone wants good no hassle bike cover).
Anyway thanks again.
P.s they are now kept in the house to the Mrs dispair.
