Does anyone have any real world experience? rotor drag? pistons not fully retracting?
Clearance is too tight imo
No such issues with formula mag etc but shimano xt with 2.3 mm thick was tight .I could get them to drag free with no catching but the lever was very firm even with pistons pushed back whilst keeping bleed cap off .
hmmmm
Interested too as I've got spare 2.3mm TRP rotors. Currently using Magura Storm HC 2.0mm rotors with my Zees on one bike, Deore 4-pots on another. IME an improvement in heat management over the standard 1.8mm Shimano rotors, so I keep wondering if thicker-again rotors would further improve things with my Shimanos.
The TRP Slate Evo brakes with 2.3mm rotors on my trail bike are immense.
I found 2.3mm Hope rotors wouldn’t work without rubbing in my E4 brakes even though they’re meant to. They’re great in V4 calipers.
2.3mm rotors on saints was great in the alps, but it’s a total saga to get them completely rub free.
That's enough to put me off, I won't bother trying now. Can't stand a rubbing brake and prefer a bit of modulation too - one of the reasons I like my Slate Evos.
I've not ridden mine much but I haven't noticed issues with my TRP rotors and SLX (2 pot) brakes
I tried a 2.3 Galfer in the Alps for 1 run on my Enduro fitted with Saints. Swapped the front wheel out for one that we are running MT7s on
Pads were almost new but wheel was too tight to spin freely.
