Folks
Does anyone know if these are still in demand for retro bike projects. I'm just stripping my '93 Orange Clockwork and seem to remember that folk will pay stupid money for them, is that right?
Cheers
FTM

If they're minty/excellent condition then you could expect £40-£50 from that auction site.

Ha - thanks, but now have sufficient stock to see me through the coming Rapture. 8)

Retrobike for offers, Ebay for bidding wars.... they usually go for good money.

Wish Shimano had never stopped making 'em - there's still a healthy demand....

Well mine have been well used on the Orange, so they ain't going to get $350, but £30-40 would be just grand! I'll whack em on Retrobike or eBay in the next few days if anyone is interested.

Certainly is demand. They are back.... I have one set of the new 9 speed micro shift thumbies on my desk... Very nice they are too. And great for touring and sand applications.

Also good for acting as a lock out device for your forks/shock. I used to do this, worked better than the Rockshok Poploc.

Great idea... The pop-lock for a reba, as an aftermarket thing was £125 a few years back..... Wish I knew a thumbie would work back then.. Cheers

Alternative friction shifter uses - to control the coaster brake on a tandem.

If they did 10spd I probably still use them on my new Spark. Had DX shifters on my Stumpjumper up until I gave it away this year and still preferred them

I managed to buy a whole bike for 40 bucks that had XT thumbies, well almost XT everything. They are now on my 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex that I built up:

Take a look at the Thumbshifter mounts made by Pauls Components - they allow modern Shimano or Sram bar end shifter to be used as thumbies.
