My google powers are failing me - I'm looking to build up a road wheel from a vintage(ish) dura-ace front hub that's 16hole.
Is it just me or is the only 16hole silver rim the one on SJS cycles which seems a bit hefty.
Do i have to resign myself to black or just build with a 32hole rim and put up with the extra holes!
Thanks
The extra hole will just be superlegerra holes.
Also they don't work if the hole are offset... Or I suppose they work really well if you are going for minimised tension.
Hmmm. Maybe it's going to be black rims then!
How about an original Shamal rim?
Definitely shiny, i think 16 hole, but tubular.
( can you lace Shimano to Campag or is it like crossing the streams in ghostbusters?)
The reason it's hefty is because it's a 16 hole shimano rim...
Properly light alloy rims (400g?) and low spoke counts do not generally make for a robust or easy build.
Even the D-A version of this rim was about 475grams.
Could you buy a carbon rim from Nextie or LB and have it painted?
Thanks for the pointers all.
Perhaps being sensible and getting the shimano rim is the sensible thing to do. End of the day, i'm really just looking for an excuse to build a pretty wheelset than anything performance based.
