I can now get some sort of cycle scheme at work and have £1500 for a bike through Green Commute Initiative.
My last bike before it was swiped was a Genesis 29er Rigid.
I'd like something possibly steel (carbon even better) and with decent spec brakes cos i'm a fatty
29er/27.5
please furnish me with your best ideas.
Whyte 905, as is Stw tradition of suggesting what you own, ignoring the things you've asked for, carbon/steel.
Fellow fatty here and the brakes haven't let me down on proper trails.
Was going to suggest another genesis, a tarn but crikey they got expensive, 2200!
I got mine for 750!
Don’t be put off by relatively common brands like cube giant or merida, these are massive companies who put out well specced bikes which are made in huge numbers.
£1500 will get you a nicely specced HT which will work well and be reasonably light (although this does depend on what you’re comparing it with)
Be open minded re frame material, you might be missing out if you rule carbon out for example.
Try as many as you can before you buy, there’s a lot of ‘kin great bikes out there.
