okay, my bike has one of those rear maxle thingys on it. and it's misbehaving slightly.
i managed to figure out how to remove the wheel (undo the qr, push the lever into the slot thing on the collar and turn the axle till it comes out) but now that i've put the wheel back on and tightened the axle up again, when i flip the qr lever again it doesn't fully tighten (thats to say, it's a bit loose and rotates easily despite the wheel feeling like it's properly held in place and the axle itself appearing secure)... so any ideas how to tighten the axle so that the qr lever doesn't move around? do i need to tighten that little nut thing on the other end of the axle from the lever or something?
Yep just tighten the nut on the other end of the axle untill you get enough resistance on the QR lever.
The QR bit itself works similar to a normal QR system in that it has a wedge thing at the end of the 12mm maxxle, it has nothing to do with the collars, you'll just have to grip the end and wind up the QR, don't do it too much other wise you won't be able to close it. I had the same issue with my Ransom.
sweet, i'll give that a go later.
That's that way it's supposed to be.
When it's all clamped shut, the lever goes loose and thus can be positioned facing any direction you want.
it should be the same as any other QR, nipped up.
Hmm, looking at the manuals I can't now tell what the crack is with the Maxle, or which one one I have.
I asked the LBS before leaving with the bike how to use the Maxle and they showed me. Once everything is tightened up the lever is free to spin round. Everything is tight, and remains so after riding, but the lever is free to spin.
Now I'm wondering if it shouldn't be like that. Dunno if mine's a Maxle 360 or what.
