[#600493]

My 4 week old Pike Airs (got from CRC) have started to make a clunky/knocking noise when going over small bumps. Its in the initial 5-10mm of travel and can be felt when stationary also.
They were fine up until a couple of rides ago and are getting worse.

Any ideas before i think about sending to TF?
cheers

Are they U-Turn? Check the travel adjust isn't 'between clicks' - mine have been like this a couple of times and made a nasty knocking sound.

Although I also have the Pike Air from CRC and haven't yet experienced what you describe, I did have a set of Revs which sound like they had a similar knocking and put it down to this from TFT site...

My U-Turn air fork knocks slightly, what is this?

There’s play in the travel adjust helix. A small amount of play is necessary because if it was tight you wouldn’t be able to turn it, however this can cause a knock. During service, we reduce this as much as possible but it can never be completely eliminated.

I'd give TFT a ring

Send 'em back to CRC and tell them they're broken?

My coil Pikes do it sometimes.

If I turn the u-turn in or out a couple of turns it goes, so I just do that. Just seems to be when the forks are a certain length, it is worse when they are not at full travel.

My new coil U-turn Pikes make the noise you describe. Interesting about the U-turn being the cause, I'll have a fiddle..
