[#2862202]

looking for a 120mm wide cassette hub with a wide flange spacing and ideally some sort of dedicated 3speed wide cassettte/freehub body.
Hub gear is a no no.

Does such a thing exist in Nicheland?

Pair a 120oln hub with a 3 speed freewheel. Both available on crc etc

Why is a hub gear a no no?

How wide is that Hope thingy thats designed for SSing? Isn't there a Halo version?
Having said that I bet they are all 135mm.
You could just bung in a 5 speed freewheel. They were originally 120mm. I have got a 6 speeder in my 120mm Tricross SS.

hub gear is too 'laggy' ie not direct enough and quite heavy,

5 speed freewheels for 120mm were Suntour something or others and are now like hens teeth.

Once you add the weight of a 3spd freewheel + derailleur + hub, you are more or less at the weight of a hub gear 3spd.

Any old free wheel will go in at 120. Just play with the spacers. I can get a 5 speeder straight on to the hub of my Tricross.
