I'm currently building up a new hardtail bike. The frame manufacturer states that it is suitable for 100-120mm forks. My riding will be mainly x/c; from rocky hillside tracks to canal towpaths, but with very little serious downhill. Any recommendations as to which I should go for please and what effect each would have on the bike's handling. If this is a well covered topic could someone provide a link to an earlier thread, thanks.

What frame? Would be useful to know...

Might be one that is known to handle better with a certain length fork even if it is rated for different lengths.

It's a Litespeed Obed size medium, thanks. This will be my second titanium frame - not to everyone's liking, I guess - but I'm a big fan.

V nice!

I guess you'd have bought an OCOEE if youd wanted a 100mm fork for defo, and the OBED has definitely got the geometry to work well with a 120mm fork...

120mm SID's for cheap from On One at the moment, SID RLT Ti's the pick of the bunch too for v cheap. Buy the 120mm version and if it does feel too slack, then you can get them spaced down to 100mm. If you buy the 100mm version it can't be lengthened, so silly not to go for the 120!

FWIW I'm riding a Genesis Altitude Ti (similar geometry and design though far eastern made) with a 120mm Reba Team at the moment and it's ace!

That's well worth knowing, thanks. I'll check out the On One pages.
