Iam about 2 buy 1 used but mint condition. Would like 2 hear from owners what they think about them. Iam havin second thoughts about buying it as on looking more into them I see alot of people have had probs with the frame cracking. More so at bb. Opinions please iam really after it but hearing about them cracking has put doughts in my head because it wont be under warranty

I don't own one but like you I did consider one, although a new one so would have been covered by a warranty. If you are buying second hand just be sure to give the frame a really good checking over. If I remember correctly the press fit BB caused some problems as did the carbon rear end.

For me... the possibility of problems was enough to put me off. I just didn't want the hassle, being 14 stone and prone to giving my bikes a hard time I went for a 5. Mate of mine has a 2011 Zesty 514, had a good play on it...no doubt they are cracking bikes, light, fast and so capable. It's worth noting that the % of bikes effected was very small in comparison to those that didn't.

I have a '10 214 with the alloy swingarm. Hammered it for 6 months and it's broke on me yet. Read lots about "snapierre" but I believe they had remedied the problems by 2010 and it didn't really put me off.

Lapierre's do have a problem with cracked frames and s/arms. I've got a 2010 x/control and the s/arm broke in two 8O. The problems so bad there's a long wait for replacement parts. At least I managed to get a loaned s/arm, the wrong colour to keep me going untill the correct one arrives. God knows when that will be. Great riding bikes but a risky s/hand purchase without a warranty.

The common problem with the 09 Zesty 514 is the cracks at the BB shell. Having said that I have one and my sell has been fine [touch wood] but the chain stay did develop a crack near the BB which was replaced under warranty in under a week.
It's worth looking at the Lapierre owners club if you haven't already.

Not sure what 2 do now. Will av a look ova there. Its mint not a scratch on it but frames cracking dont do it 4 me and it sounds like its common.

Have you considered an Orange 5? They are way faster than Zesty 514:-) and they can with stand a huge amount of crashing

Believe Lapierre Sorted the problem very quickly
Do they allow transfer of ownership on the Warranty ?

I wouldnt think U can transfer warrantys. Theres only 2 or 3 on the owners club website regarding cracking unless the mods r deleting them

My '09 314 has been fine (OK the original press-fit BB only lasted 4 months but the replacement is still going strong). No cracks anywhere and I tend to crash through things rather than float over them. I think the BB cracking issue was a limited manufacturing fault with the tooling but yeah quite a few swing-arms have broken for others so not sure I'd get a 2nd hand one that old unless is was a massive bargain.
